Lee Feather and The Night Movers
Shacklewell Arms, E8 2EB , [Venue Details]With a deliberately liquorice all-sorts approach to songwriting, Lee Feather and The Night Movers delivers a brand of music that listens simply to what it loves and not to the boundaries of genre.
The scaffold of their debut album is the lyrical content, a spiny backbone in a fluid body of work that delivers tongue-in-cheek, dark and gripping observations on modern life. The debut single, No Refunds (At The Pleasure Dome) sits somewhere in the post-punk reservoir with nods to Fat White’s and Baxter Dury. Those sounds are quickly forgotten by the time you get to the dissonant, choral, somewhat Godly, ‘Calvary’, or the indie jangler ‘Motorola’. Lee Feather and The Night Movers is what happens when a nineties-kid-cum-poet flicks through his record collection, pulling out forgotten bangers at random, and decides to make a record himself.
